Scottish Smallpipes

On the standard D sets the open smallpipes chanter has a range of nine notes: D to d with the C below.
The top c to d interval is about a full tone

Using Irish  pipe style cross-fingering this gives C natural, or with two fingers off at the top a reasonable C sharp. 
It works well with either Scottish or Musette type fingering and has a loud bright tone.
